Die, all ye of no faith!
Die, all ye heretics!
Die, all ye who accept not the Official Story Line!
<end of humor>

Gosh, y'all prob'ly don't believe the 11 o'clock news, either! :-)

I LOVE Virus. Virus is cool. Virus is my friend. It adds sooo
many new and interesting ways to kill unsuspecting, trusting PCs...

As for those who dislike the *magic* of Virus, please wave for me
the magic wand of "unified field theory" that allows for gravtic
technology, especially those really cool "reactionless" thrusters...
(I apologize for not giving credit where credit is due, but I've just
caught up reading the last 40+ back issue of TML that I was behind,
and at this frustration level... Well, patience are few... Sorry.)

"How do you open a hole in nothing?"

The standard one-week-thingy about jumps has always bothered me,
since we're all gettin' stuff off our collective chests. Shouldn't it
vary a little more by distance? Even having longer jumps for *closer*
destinations would at least be intuitively acceptable.

I have only one comment about Aliens of the Rim, Vol. 1 (since I
haven't read it all yet... just got it today...):

LOREN!!! How could you permit that hideous, awful, absolutely heinous
pun on the back of Hivers and Ithklur?! The attornies for the advertisers
of the producers of the _Alien_ flick are probably livid, or amused, or
just (like me) smacking their foreheads, aggie-style, and saying, "Doh!"

Fellow TMLers, especially those darn foreigners whose distribution
infrastructure seems even worse than our own in the U.S., please judge for
yourselves the pun at which I shudder, from the back of "Hivers & Ithklur":

"BECAUSE IN SPACE, NO ONE CAN HEAR YOU SCHEME"
                                           ^^^^^^

[the pitiful sound of Dave SCREAMING in a vacuum]

I wonder what Ripley would think of that? What would the cat think of
it? Would the Alien care? Do you care? Are you the Alien?

Notes:

The "Julian" Class Armed Scout was designed on Aquitaine in the early 1190's
as a multi-purpose ship capable of independent exploratory missions beyond
the borders of the Near Bootes Commonwealth. The Type 11 (the type's formal
designation) carries a reasonable weapons array (normal loadout consists of
3 120Mj Laser turrets), and is relatively well armoured.

The Type 11 is now being produced under license by most of the Commonwealth
worlds, with variations in design. The most common variant is the Type
11-2, with jump maneuver drives downgraded to jump-2 and 1G respectively.
The increased cargo space has made this variant a popular merchant craft,
gradually replacing old Free and Far Traders as they wear out. The Type
11-3 sacrifices maneuver performance for an impressive sensor and ECM array,
while the Type 11-5 (produced by Hamilcar), with no jump drives and 4G
maneuver, is the mainstay of that world's system defense force.

To date, 23 examples of this type have been produced: 11 Type 11-0/1's, 8
Type 11-2's, 1 Type 11-3 and 4 Type 11-5's. Production continues.

Stats above are for the Type 11-1.
